Gillian Dickson, wife of the Superintendent Keith Dickson of the Fishermen's Mission in Newlyn has successfully completed her arduous trip aboard the Sapphire!

Sailing day was planned for 1500 on Tuesday 20 April - but our fickle weather has decided to intervene so we are looking at Thursday or Friday - the lot of the fisherman!
As Breton fishermen say: Pas de peche, pas de gain, le pecheur est condammed pour gagne!

Here's a chance to follow Gillian's trip aboard the Sapphire sailing with one of Newlyn's most experienced trawler skippers, Mike Corin. Gillian is hoping to email pictures taken with a mobile phone, kindly donated by local mobile phone shop Intek Communications. Let's hope they stay within range as we are hoping to recieve pictures as they are taken and mailed back to shore. Westcountry TV are hoping for bigger things - they have lent her a video camera so that she can record a video diary.

For the crew of course this will be just another trip -
like any other, their wishes are for fine weather and good fishing.
